Will the Div II sub-state game be played at UVA-Wise?

Just wondering if the Div II sub-state game between Region D and C will be played at UVA-Wise.

Region D should be hosting C this year. If Gate City wins the game, it doesn't seem logical that they would want to come all the way to Wise to play the game.

Would the winner get to choose to play on their home field?

I would think so. Its not advantage to PV or GC to play at UVA-Wise. Its not even the same surface as the state title game is played on.

I would agree. Not an advantage to either team.

I think Giles came to Sandlick to play Haysi in 2005.

So, in football the Region champions can pick their own field? Because, in basketball, I think the Region D teams have had to play at "neutral" sites. In 2006, Twin Valley played the Region C runner up at Clinchco. Last year, Gate City played the runner up at VA High.

For basketball I think there is only a few gyms that are approved to host region tournys and semi state games. It used to be Clinchco, Clintwood, and Castlewood in the Region D, but with the new district I'm sure there are a couple more.


As for football, i'm sure they can pick as long as the seating meets a certain requirement, I remember GC playin a semi-state game at home on a sunday back in '03.

Haha we played radford that day, the game on saterday was post-poned from snow.

GC wanted to play at Castlewood for the GW game, ....for some reason, we didn't though.

Makes sense.

Even for Powell Valley, though, I think it would be a better option to host the game at Bullitt Park rather than the college.
